OBN Graduate Interview: Corina Nicolae of Womb Nutrition
Corina is a mother of two, a wife and (last but definitely not least) a woman who has transformed her passion for nutrition into a business that she is really proud of. She is a double-certified Integrative Health and Nutrition Consultant specializing in Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Baby Nutrition. Through Womb Nutrition Corina helps women navigate pregnancy and postpartum, and also guides parents and caregivers with introducing solids to their babies and raising adventurous eaters.
To kick things off, we asked Corina to complete the following phrases:
My favorite form of self-care is… moving my body.
An ideal day would be… sunny being out and about with my 3 favorite people in this whole wide world - my boys.
Words of wisdom I live by are… today is all I have.
A podcast I have been loving is… on Purpose with Jay Shetty.
My go-to recipe is… this magnesium-rich homemade chocolate recipe. (She also suggests having fun with adding different nuts and fruits into the mix.)
Upon graduation, what were some of the first steps you took to build your business?
The OBN Master certification was exactly what I needed in order to have the courage to transition from a full-time corporate marketing professional to self-employment with Womb Nutrition.
I invested time in communication to promote my brand and my services, building a website, and taking as many clients as I could for no or little money to build up my experience.
Corina shares two challenges she faces as a parent growing her own business, and how to give herself grace as this evolves.
1. Managing my business while taking care of my kids and juggling between house chores, self time and office hours whenever I had the option (childcare, naps or daddy staying with the kids). To me, the only way to overcome it was to set my expectations more realistically in terms of what I can get done in one day. Plus better time management - a skill that I greatly improved especially after my second baby was born.
2. The lack of a steady monthly income which I used to have when being an employee. Haven't managed to overcome this one, but I'm trying to give myself time because I am also still far from working full-time (my youngest has just turned one).
Adding that;
I'm proud of everything I've accomplished since I launched Womb Nutrition. That was the main mindset change for me compared to when I used to be an employee, when I thought talking about big projects is the only way to showcase my success. I am now proud of every Instagram reel, every blog post, every new client I have, every service I sell, and every workshop or webinar I hold.
What advice would you give to a student or new graduate in need of motivation? How do you remain motivated?
Embrace the fact that it can really take time, especially if you're also mothering alongside. At the moment, it's my clients that motivate me. The positive feedback that I get and the positive impact I have on people's wellbeing.
